SCSA and SCSB in association with Young Indians (Yi), Coimbatore Chapter organized an “Entrepreneurship Roadmap Program” on November 18th, 2013. Yi is an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The program was organized as part of the celebration of “Global Entrepreneurship Week” from November 18th to 24th, 2013.
The event comprised of two sessions. Mr.Shivabalakrishnan, Chair, Yi Coimbatore and Mr.Prasanna Krishnan, Co-Chair, Yi Coimbatore, were the guests for the inaugural session. In his address, Mr.Shivabalakrishnan spoke about the qualities required to be a successful entrepreneur. Mr.Prasanna Krishnan during his address cited the example of iPhone and went on to speak in detail about the importance of cultivating entrepreneurship.
The first session also saw young entrepreneurs, who are products of STEP, Coimbatore, sharing their experience swith the students. Mr.Shyam, one of the entrepreneurs who is the Founder & CEO of Venpep Solutions, a tech start-up, based out of Coimbatore, which focuses on diversified business consulting engagements, spoke on the ups and downs involved in becoming a successful entrepreneur. The second guest speaker, Mr.Sojesh Somapalan, Co-Founder, Fedlabs spoke on the importance of planning in entrepreneurship.
Mr.Thibaut Delarbre, the third guest speaker, who is a French serial-entrepreneur, technology –enthusiast and former blogger, who co-founded popular web applications including, freeapp.dk and designingopportunities.net and latera on went to create Wiredelta, an European web agency offering innovative development solutions to online entrepreneurs, spoke about web development experts in India and abroad and the differences in their working style.
Students presented selected ideas during the second session. Five best ideas from PSG College of Technology, Kongu Engineering College, Sakthi Institute of Management Studies and Karpagam Engineering College were selected after the screening phase.
Earlier in the day, Prof.J.Srikanth, Dean, SCSB, in his welcome address, spoke about the exciting growth phase awaiting student entrepreneurs and foreign investors. He called for a creative and independent mindset for developing an entrepreneur. Mr.Rajdeepan Swaminathan, Managing Trustee, SCSA &SCSB and Chair, Yi Students Net, Coimbatore Chapter, presided over the event. In his address, Mr.Rajdeepan Swaminathan spoke about the various opportunities available to students to become entrepreneurs. Ms.Suchi Rajdeepan, Trustee SCSA & SCSB, Mr.Ramesh Pallikara, Dean, SCSA, faculties from SCSA & SCSB, students and members from Yi Coimbatore, were also present during the event, which turned out to be a resounding success.
