Pongal is one of the most popular harvest festival of South India, mainly Tamil Nadu. Pongal falls in the mid-January every year and marks the auspicious beginning of Uttarayan – sun’s journey northwards. Pongal festival lasts for four days. Celebrations include drawing of Kolam, swinging & cooking of delicious Pongal.
SASI Creative School of Architecture celebrated Pongal in a traditional way by preparing ‘Pongal’ in mud pot with all religious traits and performed special Pooja. All the students and staff members came in traditional attire.
Students belonging to various States and other countries joined together in preparing Pongal with the help of faculty members. A village set up was made using eco-friendly material. Later, sweet Pongal was prepared and after offering to the Sun God was distributed among the students, staff and workers. Some competitions were also conducted to raise the spirit of Pongal celebration like Uriyadi, Kolam Competition etc.
